Reasoned Voices : Intelligent Debate

Welcome to a place where facts rule over emotion. Fundamental issues rule over bashing someone else. Unity over politics.

In a day and age where we are so global-minded, fast paced and have a take it as it comes attitude, where do the real issues people are thinking about fall? Or more importantly, who wants to think about what others will think?

There are bigger, broader issues to talk about – the ones that really matter to your everyday life. Once we start to realize there are fundamental issues we all can agree on, party lines will not become an issue and we all can start making the world a better place. Global topics, local thoughts, they all shape how we view our world.

Politics determine how we live on Earth, so why not be informed?

This community is open to all countries. All issues. All concerns.

This is the water cooler we all would like to have at our work, school and even homes, talking about the core values we believe in, are defending or see under attack, and things we think our politicians have over looked, don’t understand, or are simply not representing.

Representation for the people, by the people isn’t just something one does if you are a politician. Talk and debate on core issues and national politics help you know where you stand when elections come up, and you can give a reason why you believe a certain way.

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it. - Aristotle

NO BASHING – do this once, you are out. Everyone has an opinion, and it’s just that. Support with facts/news articles are the ways to defend your points, not by screaming at people and calling names. We are adults – not 2 year olds.

He who slings mud generally loses ground. - Adlai Stevenson

NO CAPS – I don’t like screaming debates, because they get us no where. Besides, who wants to listen to you yell? This community is for the rational debate and talking of issues, not the platform for you to scream.

EVERY POST IS MODERATED – This is so we can ban those who bash, stop arguments, shut down threads when they get way off topic. It’s not governmental control, it’s the Teacher in me. Healthy debate is good, and every debate needs a moderator before it becomes a kicking and screaming match (which will get you banned) so this is simply to prevent you from being hurt.

RESPECT – Like in my classroom, every student needs to respect each other, and me. We can’t talk if you can’t entertain the thought of someone holding a different view.

I have come to the conclusion that politics are too serious a matter to be left to the politicians. - Charles de Gaulle

BE OPEN TO LISTEN - Intellegent debate means you can see there is more than just how you view an issue. Goes back to respect. Goes back to no bashing. And also the no yelling. If you are closed-minded or refuse to see every issue has two or more sides, perhaps you shouldn't join.
